Part One: Background. Social project. Active since 2020.
Sociological research in the Black River district in southwestern Mauritius has shown that even in such an ideal country there are problems. Early debut of sexual activity gives rise to earlier motherhood, which entails infantilization of the population. Alas, this too often ends... in alcoholism.
The La Kaz Social project, headed by Steve Lebrasse, has been successfully working with teenagers for three years, teaching them technical professions related to boats: this is a prestigious and in-demand job on the island.
The project is expanding to include the Brando Watersports school in 2025. With the support of relevant government agencies, days will be organized where regular events are held, free of charge for program participants:
- Swimming lessons
- Diving training
- Water Safety Basic Drill
- First aid
- Seminars for parents of children involved in sports
- Basic training in surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, wing surfing
- Introduction to Navigation Theory
Scholarships are granted for children who have demonstrated sports talent: personal training and training to the level of forming the island’s national team.
